Saturday was a big day. Declan got to hold his baby sister for the first time. At first, he didn't even want to go in the room. A NICU can intimidate even adults, much less a five-year-old. But after a few minutes, he decided to come in, and stood by us as we held her. Then he asked if he could hold her. When he did, he was hooked. We went back last night for another visit, and he was fine.
Ella's doing great, too. Her IV is completely gone. Her weight, after dropping to 3 pounds 13 oz, is rebounding. She is up to 22 cc's of breast milk every 3 hours, and is digesting well. She even opened her eyes for several minutes last night.
